The Aeropress Clear (newer model) is made from Tritan plastic, which is transparent, more durable, and BPA-free. The Original uses dark-colored polypropylene. Brewing performance is identical; the difference is purely in material and appearance. The Clear model makes it easier to observe the brewing process.
The basic set is sufficient, but the Fellow Prismo (pressure valve) can produce espresso-like intensity. A metal filter (Able Disk) eliminates the need for paper filters. A travel case adds portability. These are all optional though; the basic Aeropress makes excellent coffee on its own.
The Aeropress is extremely durable and easily lasts 3-5 years with normal use. The plunger seal may wear over time, and Aeropress sells replacement parts. The plastic body is highly resistant to breaking, which makes it ideal for travel.
The Aeropress is a portable coffee brewer invented in 2005 by Alan Adler in the United States. Combining air-pressure immersion with paper filtration, its versatile design has built a devoted following among travelling coffee lovers and baristas who enjoy experimentation.
The Aeropress's greatest strength is its versatility. With a single device you can brew an espresso-like concentrated shot, a clean filter-style cup, or a smooth cold brew. By adjusting grind size, water temperature, and steep time the flavour possibilities are virtually endless.
The Aeropress family includes three models: the original Aeropress, the Aeropress Go (a compact travel edition with its own mug-case), and the Aeropress Clear (a transparent body that lets you watch the brewing process). The Go fits neatly into a carry-on bag, while the Clear adds a visual dimension to your brew ritual.
Each year the World Aeropress Championship showcases the passionate community built around this brewer. Competitors develop unique recipes — unusual grind sizes, unconventional temperatures, creative techniques. These published recipes serve as a continuous source of inspiration and experimentation for Aeropress users everywhere.
If you travel frequently, the Aeropress Go fits into a suitcase with its compact carry case. Specialty coffee even in a hotel room.
Once comfortable with the standard technique, flip it upside down. The inverted method allows a longer immersion time and produces a fuller-bodied cup.
Swap the paper filter for a reusable metal one. Coffee oils pass through, giving you a richer, French-Press-like body in your cup.
“The Aeropress is our go-anywhere recommendation. Office, travel, camping — specialty quality in every setting. And with new championship recipes released every year, it is impossible to get bored.”— Fuga Coffee Brewing Team
